This lot will force you to cross the highway so, please be very aware of oncoming traffic when crossing.  This lot is also a good mile to the transition area, so plan accordingly when you pack on race day.

A carefully packed duffel bag or backpack with all of your gear will be very useful in this situation.

. Checklist for Gear

Packet pickup is at Chiddister Pavilion at Fidler Pond Park on Friday, August 14 from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm and on Saturday, August 13 from 6:00 am – 7:30 am. Packet pick up is approximately a 1/2 mile from the transition area, so plan accordingly to reduce your stress. The first wave starts at 8:00 am. We strongly encourage participants to come to packet pickup on Friday to see the layout. Photo ID and USAT card required at packet pickup. Everyone is required to pick up their number and show ID.

USAT rules apply.  You must swim in your assigned wave. You must wear a helmet in order to participate. There is no drafting on the bike.  Please make sure your bike is in good working order. Plan to carry your fluids and fuel with you as there is no water stop on the bike course. A spare tire kit is always a good idea. Please see the Common Violations page here to make sure you know the rules.

Swim Course

RTQ Swim Map

The water is very deep, so you should have experience swimming in open water to participate in this 500 yard swim.  All swimmers will be given a colored swim cap and placed into “waves” or groups of your own age and gender. You must swim in your assigned wave. Waves will depart every three minutes.

There is a sandy ledge around much of the perimeter of the pond so that you can enter and exit. Once you begin swimming, you will not be able to touch bottom, as there is a steep drop-off. Our water safety staff will be on hand to guide you.

Triathletes: Your course is marked with green barrels. Lime green are you turn buoys.

Mile swimmers: You are basically swimming the perimeter of the pond. Yellow barrels are there to guide you and orange are the turn points. Swimmers will be chip-timed and timing will end upon crossing a timing mat placed near the water. There is a sandy rim around much of the perimeter for entrance and exit. Once you begin the swim, you will not be able to touch bottom until you reach the exit point. There will be a team of water race staff if assistance is needed  or to rest during the route. The swim will begin after the last wave of the triathlon (approximately 8:45 a.m. – 9:00 a.m.).

Transition Area

The transition area is just beyond the pond perimeter in an adjoining field. One of the neighbors has graciously allowed us to use their property, so please don’t litter!  We needed to get enough flat space so that we could set up plenty of bike rack space. It is about 500 feet from the swim exit to the transition area. Again, we strongly recommend that everyone check in Friday night to become familiar with the land.

Bike Course

RtQ_MAP 2021_16

Please see the proposed course map above, subject to change.  The course is a flat out and back to Millersburg for a total of 15.8 miles. You will first be going through an industrial park area with both right and left turns. There are some sections with some rough pavement. We have a short no passing zone where riders will go under a train trestle. We ask that you slow down on that curve for your safety. There is a long segment where you can gain a lot of speed.  Course signs will be up on Friday so you can ride or drive the course after you pick up your packet to understand.

Bike Course Turn by Turn- Route for bike will exit on Oak to CR 37 (College Ave); College to Century Dr (through an industrial area); left on CR 38 to CR 31; right on CR 31 to CR 40; left on 40 to CR 37; right on 37 to CR 140 (Railroad St); turn around at Eagle Park and return to Fidler Pond Park the same route.

Run Course

RTQ Run Route Map

The run is two laps (3.1 miles) around Fidler Pond on the path. What is fantastic about this course is you will see the rest of the field out there running. No chance of missing a turn or getting off track. Just zoom around the pond twice clockwise and then cross the finish line! Spectators will enjoy the non-stop action at this venue.
